About Us

Our family of 6 (dad Adam, mom Sherry, big sister Abby and little brothers Isaac and Brady -- who was born on December 14, 2010) joined the ranks of pediatric cancer fighters when our 4-year old son Logan was diagnosed with a dangerous and highly malignant form of brain cancer in mid-August 2010. Logan's cancer journey began abruptly on Sunday, August 15, when his right eye suddenly turned inward during dinner. Twenty-four hours later, we were checking into Children's Hospital Oakland and finding out that life sometimes takes you places you'd never, ever imagine yourself going.

...and the Actual Update On Logan ;) 9/6/10

The first two chemo drugs were pushed yesterday evening. Adam told me that he had something of a restless night, but so far on my watch today, he's been sleeping thanks largely to Benadryl and Reglan. He's thrown up just once in the past 5 hours. The doctors and nurses say he's handled the first bit well so far. Tonight at 8 PM (and 8 PM will be the 'magic hour' from here on out, apparently), they'll push the next two meds. It's hard seeing him out of it; I wish he could be his usual sunny self again NOW, but I'd rather him sleep off the discomfort than be awake and in pain or nauseaus.

His day nurse, Terri, has been a real blessing to us. She became a nurse several years ago after her son died of a brain tumor, so she has a true passion for the job and a heart for kids suffering from cancer, and particularly, brain cancer. She mentioned this afternoon that she'd like to be his primary, if we didn't mind. Mind?! We'd like to have her around 24/7 if we could. I said I was looking forward to the day when she could see what he's really and truly like, and she replied that she's already in love with him now.

So that's the actual Logan Update for now. Please keep praying for healing, strength, and, of all things, the output of poop.
