About Us

Our family of 6 (dad Adam, mom Sherry, big sister Abby and little brothers Isaac and Brady -- who was born on December 14, 2010) joined the ranks of pediatric cancer fighters when our 4-year old son Logan was diagnosed with a dangerous and highly malignant form of brain cancer in mid-August 2010. Logan's cancer journey began abruptly on Sunday, August 15, when his right eye suddenly turned inward during dinner. Twenty-four hours later, we were checking into Children's Hospital Oakland and finding out that life sometimes takes you places you'd never, ever imagine yourself going.

It Figures, Doesn't It? 9/22/10

Just in case I'd gotten too comfortable and forgotten that this is a raging spiritual battle, I got a reminder this evening: Isaac has some sort of snotty-nosed, fever-inducing, cranky-making virus. Yes, for real. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. NONE of my kids have been sick at all since, oh, probably last Winter, yet now my 2-year old manages to come down with something the day before my cancer-stricken kid is scheduled to come home for the first time in 3 weeks. Could it BE any more transparent?!

As of now, Logan will still be coming home tomorrow anyway, but it'll be a challenge to keep him from being exposed to his little brother. Please pray that the rest of us -- and especially Logan -- will be spared whatever illness Isaac has, and that his own spell will be short-lived so we'll be able to enjoy some real family time.
