About Us

Our family of 6 (dad Adam, mom Sherry, big sister Abby and little brothers Isaac and Brady -- who was born on December 14, 2010) joined the ranks of pediatric cancer fighters when our 4-year old son Logan was diagnosed with a dangerous and highly malignant form of brain cancer in mid-August 2010. Logan's cancer journey began abruptly on Sunday, August 15, when his right eye suddenly turned inward during dinner. Twenty-four hours later, we were checking into Children's Hospital Oakland and finding out that life sometimes takes you places you'd never, ever imagine yourself going.

The Logan Update: 10/20/10

Where to begin. Well, first off, his WBC count was up to .6 again this morning. I take it with a grain of salt, given the other variables present, but better up than down. At least his body is trying to recover.

His belly is still extremely distended, and I get the impression that the doctors are stumped. He's tried a few different drugs to try to ease the inflammation and to get his body to release the excess fluid it's holding, but no dice so far. He seems to weigh a little bit more each morning, too. Given that he's been NPO (no food or drink) for over a week now, he shouldn't be gaining weight. His breathing is also still very fast and labored because his belly is so big and out of place. It's really scary. And it's time for God to step in and HELP! So please pray for that. A lot.

He slept for a while this afternoon, and when he woke up he coughed up a lot of what sounded like mucus. He was not amused. :( At the moment he's quietly watching Cartoon Network, HR in the 160s, fever of 101.4, respirations in the 60s. It's all just so frustrating I could scream.
